This year marks a major milestone for Rother Valley Timber as the family-run business celebrates 50 years of supplying quality timber products to trade and public customers across the South East.
Founded in Rolvenden, Kent, and serving customers throughout South East England, the company has built a strong reputation for reliability, service and responsible operations. A key part of that responsibility has always been fleet safety and compliance.
Back in 1999, Rother Valley Timber invested in the newly launched Axtec Model 4000 Dynamic Axle Weighbridge (Serial Number 4001) to ensure their delivery vehicles operated safely and within legal weight limits. At the time, the system represented cutting-edge axle weighing technology, reinforcing the company’s proactive approach to health & safety and operator compliance.
Now, after 25 years of dependable service, the original weigh beam has been replaced and the system upgraded to the latest-generation 6000 Axtec Dynamic Weighbridge Indicator — bringing enhanced performance, improved diagnostics and future-ready capability.
The milestone upgrade coincides with Rother Valley Timber’s 50th anniversary celebrations, providing an opportunity to highlight their long-standing commitment to maintaining high health and safety standards.
Robin Eden of Rother Valley Timber commented:
“For us, compliance and safety have never been optional extras — they are part of how we operate every day. Our original Axtec weighbridge has served us reliably for 25 years, which says a lot about the build quality and support behind it. Upgrading to the new 6000 indicator ensures we continue to operate responsibly and efficiently for years to come.”
Keith Gresham, Managing Director of Axtec, added:
“Rother Valley Timber are exactly the kind of operator we’re proud to support — professional, responsible and forward-thinking. The fact that their original system has delivered 25 years of service is testament not only to the durability of our equipment, but also to the care and standards they maintain as a business. It’s a pleasure to see them mark 50 years with such a strong commitment to safety and compliance.”
The continued partnership between the two companies reflects shared values: longevity, reliability, and a practical commitment to keeping vehicles safe and legal on the road.
As Rother Valley Timber looks ahead to its next chapter, the upgraded Axtec system ensures that compliance remains firmly built into the foundations of its operation — just as it has been for the past five decades.
