Axtec, the specialist manufacturer of axle weighing systems, has gained approval to self-verify its Series 4000 and Series 5000 dynamic weighbridges; another first for the Runcorn company, and a unique position for Axtec in the transport industry.
Utilising its two specialist Weighbridge Test Vehicles and highly trained staff, Axtec is now authorised to verify its dynamic weighbridges for use for sale of goods by weight and other legal purposes.
Self-verification means that Axtec dynamic weighbridges may be approved for trade use by Axtec’s own, authorised staff, without the need to bring in Trading Standards Officers to witness the test, saving costs and avoiding delays for customers. The approval is a notable acknowledgement of Axtec’s esteemed position as the UK’s leading producer of vehicle axle weighing equipment. Axtec frequently carries out maintenance work outside normal hours to meet customers’ Service Level Agreements, and the new approval will enhance its flexibility and service standards.
To obtain the approval from the Secretary of State for Business & Trade, Axtec passed a thorough audit of its equipment and processes, already certified under its ISO9001:2015 quality system. Dedicated to providing equipment to combat overloading, Axtec is the only manufacturer to specialise in axle weighing systems, and unique in operating Weighbridge Test Vehicles which are compliant with the standards for dynamic weighbridges, as distinct from traditional single-plate static weighbridges.
Key advantage for waste operators
Axtec dynamic weighbridges are widely used in the waste industry, where they have an important advantage in not requiring the large space needed for a surface-mounted plate weighbridge, or the high construction cost and ongoing maintenance cost of a pit weighbridge. Axtec dynamic weighbridges’ ease of use and high throughput are also appealing characteristics.
“We have always been proud to offer a complete turnkey service,” said Axtec Managing Director, Keith Gresham, “including our in-house surveying, construction, installation, calibration and service. This new accreditation means we can enhance that offering still further, improving service and value for our customers. It is also an acknowledgement of the high-quality products we develop, and the rigorous aftersales commitment which keeps our equipment in prime operating condition, optimising its accuracy and reliability.”
