Axtec wins DVSA maintenance contract for seventh time

Axtec, the specialist manufacturer of axle weighing systems, has been awarded the contract to supply and maintain DVSA’s national network of enforcement weighbridges for an unprecedented seventh consecutive time.

The contract includes the regular calibration and verification of the DVSA’s dynamic weighbridges, which is carried out by the company’s two specially-built Weighbridge Test Vehicles. Crewed by highly-trained Service Engineers, these unique trucks carry purpose-made one-tonne test weights and a fork-lift truck to handle them, as well as a comprehensive range of tools and spares.

Axtec’s in-house Construction team also carry out the highly specialised construction work necessary to build the perfectly flat approach slabs essential for accurate axle weighing, as well as annual level surveys to certify their compliance.

The contract carries hefty penalties for late performance, and Axtec is proud that it has never incurred penalties, normally scoring well over 99% uptime.

“This is a very complex contract,” says Axtec’s MD, Keith Gresham, “requiring careful co-ordination between the client, Trading Standards, and our Service, Production and Construction functions. We have a dedicated and extremely capable team of specialists, and I’m very proud of the service they provide.  This is a massive vote of confidence in their skill and commitment.”
